SELENA GOMEZ RAPS ASAP ROCKY GOOD FOR YOU VERSE
For Selena Gomez’s secret rapping chops we’ve known for awhile, since she break it out to Drake’s “Preach” in April, and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” way back in 2013. These days, she only parades her skills off on special occasions. During an interview with 102.7 KIIS FM, DJ Jojo Wright coaxed Selena into doing A$AP Rocky’s verse on their super-catchy collab song “Good For You,” and finally, after he promised he’d bleep out the curse words, she did. And it was perfect. Of course.
“Good For You” is one of the singles from her much-anticipated upcoming LP Revival, which comes in October. During a radio interview yesterday, Sel explained, “I wanted to push the boundaries and work with other people that I’d never worked with before. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t work and I would just go into the studio and I spent so much time trying to figure out what would make this record special… there’s this urge in me to want to bring out something inside of my voice that I’ve not done yet.” She also mentioned that one of the songs, which is “about kindness,” is reminiscent of her 2011 hit “Who Says.”
In the meantime, is it too much to ask that Selena and T-Swift start a girl-rap side project?
