“Companions” CO-CREATOR: Monica And Chandler Wedding Was Because Of Fans

Companions “lobsters” Monica Geller and Chandler Bing (Monica And Chandler) would never have made it to joyfully wedded TV paradise if not for the fans, says co-inventor Marta Kauffman.

Truth be told, their stunning (and astonishing) London hookup in the season 4 finale should be more like an one-night stand.

“We had no clue what reaction that was going to get,” Kauffman conceded amid a board for her new Netflix show, Grace and Frankie, at the ATX Television Festival on June 5. “We thought it would be amusing and we were going to dispose of it.”

Yet, the fans had different arrangements.

Shouts were so boisterous amid the taping of the inn room scene, she says they needed to interruption shooting. “All of a sudden, the crowd let us know they had been sitting tight for that,” she includes. “We needed to re-examine how we were going to continue going and change the relationship.”

Concerning the shows other arrangement of perfect partners, there was never an uncertainty in Kauffman’s psyche that Ross Geller and Rachel Green would discover their way back to one another.

Finishing the arrangement whatever other way? “That would have been stupid.”
