Lessons learned at London Fashion Week
London Fashion week brought a new, vibrant feminine air to it with gorgeous slip dresses, detail-filled dresses and lace infused outfits. Things were romantic and just a tad bit dark with a vast array of neck ribbons and dark red lipstick shades. Like any Fashion Week, it taught us a lot – here are the lessons we learned.
Shorter haircuts are the best way to revive an iconic look. Top model Alexa Chung shortened her hair in a week and showcased all the benefits of a quick seasonal visit to the hair stylist. Her colleague, Lucia Pieroni, taught us that if you want to make a risk with a piece of makeup – go for the deepest, moodiest blue. It will bring your face into sharp focus and display all your lovely features to the world.
Braids are in, or at least hair that looks like a braid but it is in fact a smart trample l’ oleil twist. It is chic, modern and urban – and last but not least, it is a great way to bring your hair back into order quickly in the middle of a business day.
Makeup was a big thing during entire week, and at times lack of it too. If you want to wear no makeup at all like models of Versus Versace, make sure to clean and moisturize your skin unless it gets an almost supernatural shine.
If you, like many, adore bright red lipstick, consider adding a hyper-saturated primary shade or darken it to provide a plum-like effect. It worked for many models during Fashion Week, and it will work for you too. The key is not to stay in the middle ground but add a hint of either lighter or darker tones.
