Golden Globes 2016 Best Director: Alejandro González Iñárritu ! Alejandro González Iñárritu is Mexican film director, screenwriter, and producer. He directed some of the very well known movies: “Amos Perros” (2000) “21 grams“, “Babel” (2007), “Biutiful” (2010, with Javier Bardem) and Birdman (or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). These movies were nominated by Academy Award.

For “Babel” he won the Academy Award for Best Director and the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing which makes him the first director from Mexico that was nominated for these awards. For his film “Birdman”, in 2015, he won the academy award for Best Director and the award for the Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture. And, in 2016, he won  Golden Globes 2016 Best Director award for his newest film the Revenant with astonishing Leonardo diCaprio starring!

What was the inspiration for this talented winner of  Golden Globes 2016 Best Director award? We can find the answer in his early age of life when he crossed the Atlantic on a cargo ship, in the age of 16 and 18, traveling from Europe to Africa. Alejandro Iñárritu said that this had a huge impact on his filmmaking giving him inspiration and places where the plots of his movies were filmed. After his journeys, he returned to his Mexico city, where he graduated at Universidad Iberoamericana with a major in communications.

This creative director began as a radio host at the Mexican radio station, the most popular one with rock music. Later, he became the producer of “Televisa” which is the largest company for mass media in whole latin America. He also composed music for six Mexican movies.

In the 1990s, he created Z films, a production company and started writing and producing, as well as directing advertisements and short films. Later on, he turned to TV and film directing, making his Z films company the strongest film production company in Mexico.

In 2016, he was awarded as Golden Globes 2016 Best Director for his film the Revenant, the interesting story about betrayal and revenge with an amazing Leonardo diCaprio in leading role!
