GIGI HADID EXPLAINS TAYLOR SWIFT SQUAD
Gigi Hadid explains Taylor Swift squad in the new issue of W magazine, and in one of the web features, she explains the ideas behind her squad to people who are still wondering what is point of it all .It turns out it is not about taking as many selfies as possible while sitting atop a giant flamingo inflatables (though recent Taylor Swift Instagrams suggest that inflatables are certainly a big part of it). Instead, she says that her friend group — particularly the model members of the crew — drew their inspiration from other iconic supermodel squads, presumably like the one featured in George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90” video.
“It’s really cool now that I feel like there’s a group of girls again that are gonna create that,” Gigi said. “It’s actually a big conversation in our group of friends; being that group of girls that show how important it is to support each other. ” Obviously, the most visible example of this friendly support is Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video, which featured about 500 of Taylor’s closest friends. “For her it was just really a way to show that she supports her friends so much and that we support her back,” Gigi explained, adding, “We want to be known as the group of girls that are known for our kindness rather than our cattiness.” What about catty-ness? Because Taylor has that in spades.
