Facebook changes like button to six different emoticons
Great news, Facebook changes ‘like’ button to six different emoticons! It is not the long expected and demanded ‘dislike’ button but it is close enough. Over the years, many Facebook users were requesting the ‘dislike’ button since they wanted to express their feelings about the sad events in the lives of their friends but they were only able to click the ‘like’ button.
For years, that was kinda an awkward practise, because people wanted to acknowledge the pain of their friends over their lost family members, breakups or other bad events in their lives, but there were no options but one: like button! Facebook was looking for a solution for a long time and although this is not the requested ‘dislike’ option, it is still an improvement.
Facebook introduces the new set of emoticons
Facebook made the change official after it tested the new set of emoticons in several countries. The new option is officially called “Reactions” and it will offer six different emoticons. From now on, you will have “Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry”
“We’ve been listening to people and know that there should be more ways to easily and quickly express how something you see in News Feed makes you feel,” said Facebook Product Manager Sammi Krug.
Over the time, the reactions will give a better insight of what is valuable for particular users and help the network to better choose from the News Feed the most interesting content for them. It is also a great news for advertisers who will have better data regarding their target market and people’s preferences.
We hope you’ll like these new reactions, at least, you will not have that awkward moment of liking your friend’s breakup! From now on you will have a much better choice of expressing your feelings on Facebook!
